Home Remedy
Common ailments can strike at any time – and sometimes, you just don’t want to treat them using shop-bought medicines… either that, or these medicines simply don’t work.
So here, we’re providing you with home-made cures (another alternative medicine, for all you homeopaths!) for three common ailments – athletes foot, body odour and the common cold.
First of all, let’s take a look at athletes foot.
What are some of the symptoms?
Well, the most common symptom will be itching between your toes. You may also feel burning in your toes and may have blisters. You’ll also notice redness, scales and a foul smell.
How can you cure it at home?
Well, curing athletes feet is pretty easy at home, and doesn’t need medical treatment unless it gets serious and won’t go away.
Simply make a solution of one part white vinegar to four parts warm water and soak your feet for about 30 minutes (once in the morning and once at night) and then dust your feet with baking soda and rub around your toes – where the infection is affecting you the most. Once this has been done, rinse your feet about 10 minutes afterwards.
Alternatively, you could try rubbing large amounts of tea tree oil between your toes, or even soaking your feet in mouthwash to relieve the itching sensation.
Body odour
Everyone has suffered from body odour at some point in their lives, but sometimes, the smell just won’t go away.
Here’s how you can cure it at home…
Buy some antibacterial soap and bathe in it every night for at least 20 minutes, and when it’s hot, wear baggy clothes made of cotton to avoid sweating too much.
You could also try wiping under your arms with white vinegar, alcohol or baking soda to kill the bacteria causing the smell. You could also wear baby powder before putting your anti-persperant on to add extra protection against body odour.
Common cold
As you may be aware, the symptoms of the common cold range from sneezing, coughing, a runny nose, headaches, loss of appetite.. and so on…
Here’s how you can treat and cure a common cold at home:
You could mix some lemon juice with warm water, and add a teaspoon of honey. You should take this twice a day.
Alternatively, you could make yourself some hot garlic soup to detox your body and fight against the fever. To do this simply boil three or four crushed cloves of garlic in a cup of water.
You could also try cutting ginger into small chunks and boiling them in a cup of water and add a small sprinkle of sugar. This ginger tea will help fight against your sore throat and stop you and unblock your sinuses.
